View Full Version : Upgrading Fuel

So I'm looking to seriously upgrade my fuel system. Pretty decided on changing out the Greddy E-manage for a Haltech e6x. I'm was thinking of getting Denso 720cc injectors. I was wondering how much whp these could handle? As well as whether or not I should get a new fuel rail, or just have the stock one customized to fit the new injectors? Oh yeah, my future goal is around the 650whp area. For now, with the current turbo I have I'm just shooting for 450whp. I'm looking at the upgraded fuel components so that I won't have to worry about it when I decide to go with a bigger turbo in the future. Thx again in advance for any information.

if you do that, buy my Haltech E6x, pre-programed and tuned by Lance @ Toyomoto for precision 780cc injectors....along with my PT-67 turbo...

Buy a fuel rail and fuel pump bracket from powerhouse racing. That way you don't need to worry about upgrading fuel when you go for more power.

Hmmm....that Haltech is looking mighty tempting right now! What 780cc injectors (brand) would you recommend to get and where can I find them should I go for that specific Haltech? Sorry, still learning, but what's a fuel pump bracket? Haven't really come across it in the forums when searching for & about fuel upgrades.

Oh yeah, GoldAltezza. Which fuel rail do you recommend?

Powerhouse racing fuel rail. Its 17.5mm inner diameter, our stock one is 10mm. I recommend you do a fuel return system as well. The fuel pump bracket is great for the return fuel system. It already comes with a feed and return fitting. Look it up on www.powerhouseracing.com
If you have any questions about install I'm sure jarrett will be there to answer all your questions. He told me how to do the twin pump install.

Oh before you order a rail from powerhouse, try to PM lexispooled on is300.net, he might be selling his PFS fuel rail and 800cc injectors. Tell I told you

The stock fuel rail should be able to support 450 rwhp. Perfomance Motorsports has a SC300 pushing 660 rwhp with a stock fuel rail so it's capable of flowing the fuel. But if you're not on a budget then the PHR fuel rail and fuel pump bracket are nice upgrades. I'm not sure if you can use one without the other though. Both feeds for the PHR rail and fuel pump bracket are AN-6 while the stock feed is AN-3.

Yeah, I got a fuel return system comming. I just bought the one from SophieSleeps on my.is. It came with a Walbro 255lph. Is the fuel bracket still needed after this? Would the precision injectors fit in the PHR fuel rail, because it says it uses Denso style injectors?

If the precision injectors fit the stock rail it will fit the phr rail. I have 780cc siemen injectors from pfs and it fit fine. The fuel rail will already have the two -8an to -6an fittings on each end and a -6an plug in the middle. I dunno what your return line kit comes with but you might need to purchase some lines and fittings. For the feed side of the rail you can cut the stock hard line, flare it and connect the stainless line to it then hook up 90 degree swivel elbow on the other end of the line to go into the rail.
If you already bought the pump assembly from sophiesleeps then you will not need the bracket from powerhouse. Just leave the middle of the rail plugged (it will already be plugged with a fitting) and run the stainless line from the front of the rail to the regulator then from the bottom of the regulator run the return line back to the fuel pump assembly.
**note- they don't need to be stainless lines**

Id reccomend marc's setup, since its been proven that those numbers can be achieved with his setup

Leopte61- I don't think the stock feed is 3an.

The actual fitting itself is not but the line is pretty small and is similar in size to an AN-3 line.

The hard line is 5/16 which is just about -6an. 3an is way skinny. Your oil feed is a -3an. The fuel aint that skinny bro

If it's 5/16 then it's an AN-5 line. Last time I looked at the fuel feed line (quite a while ago) it was much smaller than my AN-6 braided return line. I was basing my comparison on the outer diameter of the line, probably a bad way of doing it since the steel outer covering made it thicker. My oil feed's outer diameter was very similar in outer diameter thus my assumption it was an AN-3.

Haha. Yea the -6an stainless lines are thick.

Still doing a li'l bit more research. With the goals that I previously stated, how wise would it be to do 2 fuel pumps? Can I get by with just one? Or should I just opt for the second fuel pump now while redoing the whole fuel system?

Second pump would be good to do for 600+whp. If you are doing the twin pumps I recommend getting the phr bracket

Your right you will need two pumps and at least 880cc to hit 650. I have 720cc and did over 600 and was at 94%. So go big if you want big HP. I have PHR fuel rail two pumps and 3 -6 lines . Two feeds and a return. Its nice. They make good stuff.
