This is for both OBDI and OBDII. You have to jumper T1 and TE1 with like a paper clip from the diagnostic port so the timing doesnt jump around. Crank the car up and from there you can take your timing light and clamp it on spark plug wire #1 and check timing.

The bolt to turn the distributor is a 12mm bolt to the left of the distrutor (towards the back of the engine) whichever way you look at it. Loosen the bolt some and you can physically move the whole distrubtor frontwards or backwards.

Base timing is set at 10 deg BTDC. On the timing cover you'll see 4 marks( l 10 l 0 ) which is in increments of 5 degrees of timing and starting at 15 all the way to the left (15, 10, 5, 0). Using your light, retard timing as necessary and then tighten the bolt back up and remove the paper clip from the diag port.

Good job

have a question about this... In manual it says first to make sure idle is at 700 rpm or so and then set timing. I have no idle control so my car runs at 1000 rpm's at idle. My timing increses when I give some throttle. Should the timing be at 10 degrees at any rpm range or my timing light could possibly be laging :)?

in supra manual says that idle have to be set right witch is 700rpm. My car cant idle at 700rpm due to that I removed my IAC (idle air control), so I had my idle rised to 1200rpm with TB screw. Can anyone tell me at what degree stock timing would be at that point (1200rpm or higher)?
