OBD2 is just a more complex emissions system, making it more complicated to run certain things. You also have to wire things (SAFC, etc) a bit differently. It doesn't really matter, or make a whole lot more complicated. So many OBDIIers are na-t now, most of the bugs and issues have been worked out.
Yup, OBD2 is fine... just use the AEM standalone and you dont need to worry about a thing :)
is the AEM pretty much plug and play to at least get the car going? anyone have any base maps to start with? or is it just something you have to fly through on your own?

base mapps come with the unit. they are enough to gey it started and get it to the tuner
I'm told that later years are OK but be carefull of the '96 ECU. It can have gremlins. For details see link below

Get whatever you want... You can always convert back to obd1 easily. Seeing as you are in tampa you have two locals who have converted to obd1 on 96 supras. Its very easy all you need is the ecu
I actually priced out the AEM today, not quite as bad as I had expected it to be. I've been told the HP limit of the OBD1 on the Supras and SC is somewhere in the realm of 700, is this correct or is there more room to work with?

I agree.
PM Supra's car over on SF is making 660whp on stock cams, head, and intake manifold.... all it has is a headgasket

well.. im obd2,.., that lean spot is not so bad, just don't run over 6 psi,.,.
OBD1 Swap is SO easy I dont know why you guys waste your time trying to work out the kinks on the OBD2. I will have the OBD1 conversion tutorial up tomorrow for you guys... if you are on a map sensor setup (VPC/MAP ECU/etc.) then its almost as easy as swapping out the ECU's... if not then all you have to do wire in the MAF plug and get an OBD1 maf aswell and you are good as gold. I converted my car with NO problems from the swap and I do not regret it to this day

i have a 95 NA 5spd, would i be obdi or obdii? i need to know i was told before i was obdi, now im being told im obdii, which is it? my NA-t conversion is almost done, as soon as i figure out wat to do with the IC pipes

You are OBD1..
93.5-95 is OBD1
96-98 is OBD2

Not sure what sensor your talking about, but I concur with kirk.
the 1993.5-1995 supras are OBDI, 1996-1998 are OBDII

I think that had to do with O2 sensors.
The OBD1 GE motor has two O2 sensors, and thats it. One in each manifold (since the stocker is a two piece)
Can you post pictures of that other sensor to see what it is?
95 is definitely OBD1

ok, i talked with zohair today, its just an o2 sensor that doesnt do much, it just has to stay on the car, doesnt even have to be inside the exhaust flow, ok, if you look under the car, on the STOCK NA exhaust system, right after the TRANNY ends, there is a wire coming out of the bottom of the car, it is attached to wat looks like the other 2 o2 sensors, it goes inside of the EXHAUST

I disassembled my stock exhaust when installing my original turbokit and I can assure that I never found one of those.
I wonder if this has to do with the Supra (since the TT Supra has an O2 sensor farther down the line as well)
