Yo guys,

I am going NA-T as many are these days. Since money is going to be tight I was wondering. Should I save up for a electronic boost controller that I would have to wait for and run boost off my wastegate spring, or should I just get a MBC for the time being? Does it damage anything running w.o BC or MBC?

I have an electronic boost control, and the only thing I can think of that might cause a problem is if you don't know how to make sure you don't over boost. If you're unsure, is there harm in waiting to make sure your car isn't ganna blow anything?

I'm in a similar situation. I decided to simply use a wastegate spring cut to my preference, like a 7.25psi spring. It's a good safeguard since it won't allow your system to "overboost" or "boost creep" past 7.25psi from what I understand. Plus, it's simple, reliable, and cheap :ugh2: .

As long as you have a gauge, then get a cheap MBC off ebay...I've used a couple and they work fine. I think I paid ~$11 shipped, plus you can sell it easily at that price to a local when you're done with it.

You can run with just wastegate spring only, that is as safe as you are going to get.

If you are not doing the headgasket at the same time, don't even worry about boost controller, just get wastegate spring for your desired boost level.

I am running 14.5psi spring, no boost controller, I do have a boost controller, just not installed as there is really no point for me to use it until I use race gas.
