^^Are the SC400's running on the same engine? What about the LS400?

The SC400 is running the same motor as the GS400, and the LS400, with the difference being in the sump location.

The reason why I ask is because there is a hole in the shortblock of the GS400 :/

I'm trying to see what other longblock would be a direct replacement. I was told the LS400 would be a direct swap and the SC400 is kinda the same, but not really. I don't really know much on this type of things.

Yeah, I was reading up on your motor on CL. I believe only a direct replacement from Lexus w/ proper year and VVt-I function would work. The early motors don't have any provision for VVt-I so you'd be at the mild cam phase through the entire rev range. But hey, it may be a blessing in disguise since it's the perfect opportunity build the motor and produce a hardcore GS.

Thanks man,

Eric, are the shortblocks of all the 1uz-fe motors the same? Some guy is trying to tell me the older LS's motors (92 specifically) that the shortblock is the same. And the price ain't bad. So if the shortblock will swap over, it might work. I'll just reuse my head.

It's dimensionally the same, but the early motors don't have the provision for the VVt-I operation. Your motor would be forever stuck at the low HP cam phase.

Im looking at getting a GS400 and Im curious what the hp potential is the from the the motor that is in it. I would love to get 500-550whp, how likely is that tho.

It possible, it just depends on how far you want to go with it.

Thanks man,
