View Full Version : Using a GT30R turbo in a NA-T kit? Anyone done this?

My NA-T goal is 500hp with as little lag as possible. Sounds like the new ball bearing turbos from Garrett are a great piece of that puzzle as they are supposed to spool up thousands of RPMs quicker. It looks like the only manifold flanges available (from what I can find) for the GT30R are T3 flanges and the NA-T manifolds are all made with a T4 flange.

It also looks like outlet is a 2" outlet so how will that downpipe work?

I'm wondering if anyone else has done this and what they ended up doing and if they ended up going fully custom to achieve it. Feel free to chime in with your opinion or ideas or if you are one of the makers/sellers of the NA-T kits.

I dont see the GT30R being a very viable solution for people running the 2jz motor... it doesnt really have enough flow up top does it?

I'd honestly go with a smaller T04E turbo like a 50 trim (it would spool like nuts and make good power and is very efficient at higher boost levels). Also allows you to use the .60 a/r housing so you can run a 2.5" outlet and a standard T4 turbine flange. Its also A LOT cheaper than a GT30R :)

T04E-50 trim with a .70 a/r exhaust side would spool like mad and make good power

I was looking at the T61 because it makes 500hp as does the GT30R but better spool characteristics so I thought this would be the way to go. I'm probably gonna do a GT35R on the Typhoon but my power goals are much higher and more displacement helps as well. I don't think that the GT35R would be the way I want to go on the Supra.

I don't know as much about the T04E but wonder why I haven't head much about other people running it so my info on it is limited. I like what I have read about the new Garrett turbos and that's why I decided on the GT30R for the Supra.
