Whats the highest the 1j auto has been known to handle? I want to do the 1.5JZ motor, using the 1j auto, so im wondering on stock twins and 14psi using all stock components, will the auto hold up? I do not want to build the auto whatsoever. Thanks.

Thanks for the info, however, is there anyone out there running that kind of power vs assuming its a certain # it will hold? Id like to see proof that it will hold for that setup, since i want to avoid whatever it takes to build the tranny. Thanks.

Thanks.Well as far as I know the 1JZ transmission shares the same internals as the 2JZ tranny, and it holds 400hp, no doubt, they are countless people who can vouch for that.

Sounds awesome, but i digress, is there any proof to the assumption that the internals are the same? If they are, thats a HUGE load off of my shoulders and will progress my swap that much quicker. Thanks for the info and i hope to see some evidence regarding that info, it will make all the difference =)

My car made 332ft. lbs/torque last year before any of the modding really began and the tranny hasnt failed yet. I would figure hp was right around there also, but due to my bad plugs my hp was much lower.

Considering the fact that the 1jz automatic tranny is powered by a i6 twin turbo engine, I would hope it is capable of the low 400hp range as with the 2jz. Its all pretty much the same.

If you dont want a built auto, just start w/ a manual. Simple as that.

Good advice. Problem is, i want an auto. Another problem is, i dont want a stick. W58 sucks as much as any other tranny out there, and the r154 is too much effort. If you did 332tq at the wheels, thats great news and i have much more happiness torwards the swap. BTW, how long have you driven it at that power level with no issues?

1JZ is internally very simmilar to the lexus V8 auto trannies. They can old around 450rwhp w/ a cooler before they reach their limits. So, I'd say around the same amount for the 1JZ trans. Many 1JZ'ers overseas hit 400+hp on their cars using the stock auto.

JamesJames you should sell about a dozen of those 1JZ automatics you own... clean out some of that garage space! :bowrofl:

I've been right around the same power level for like a year and a half now... added a b&m trans cooler almost a year ago just for assurance. I was going to wait on a fmic, ypipe and downpipe before i go to get it tuned, but I think ill just go get it tuned here in the near future anyways. Gas prices are getting ridiculous so I wanna get as much mpg as I can right now
