Owning / building tuned cars is a luxury we all charish....very easy to take for granted at times. Not everyone can afford to even own a car, let alone a modified one.....

not gonna even talk about the ungodly amount of money you guys spend on your NA-T rides (That R very nice btw!! ;) )

Now with that in mind,

Some people (who are members of my sites) may already know this, but a little while ago I was sidelined with multiple surgeries....It was a Cancer scare that I made it thru. :ugh2: The recovery took a full year+ of mostly being in the bed and not much else. During that time I a chance to think about my life and how lucky I was to be 'Healthy'. I LOVE building cars and own more than my fair share of modified Imports...it meant NOTHING to me for that stretch of time.

During my many trips to the Cancer research facility in Seattle, I couldnt help but notice the people that were not as lucky as me. The side effects of the treatment (as im sure you all know) causes hair loss. Young, old, black,White,Asian,Hispanic...any/and everyone.

Ive gotten a lot of work over the years due to my hair, shot with great photographers and hairshows with sum of the top stylist in the US...... but I thought it would serve others better.

I had it cut to donate it to "locks of love" ( http://www.locksoflove.org ) A non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvataged kids, who have long term medical related hair loss.

I had this done before the start of summer here when modeling jobs really start to pick up. I selected this time to show my commitment to others around the world who are not as lucky as I am.

This is sumthing that I will continue to do, for as long as I can.

I just want to encourage others to help any way that they can. It's not always about money ( or which charity you decide to support ) It could jus be an hour of your time that you donate that could change someones quality of life.

I post this information on a lot of sites that I care about. :grouphug:

Anywayz, This post should not be taken as a 'downer', but in fact to celebrate life and all the great things that come with it...

OK, back to cars now :ylsuper:

I repect you for what you have done, and like Kirk said, it is very admirable. I've lost a friend from cancer a while back ago and had many friends who have had their loved ones die from cancer.

And I do agree that sometimes, we take alot of things in our life for granted. But I guess we just have to appreciate it while it lasts.

Exactly. Let's all be glad what we have, and appreciate it. Great post.

I think alot of people (including myself) think the only way to help people with these unfortunate disabiltys is to donate money. Its amazing that something as simple as a haircut, would not only benifit you, but also bring a smile to someones face.

Cheers DriftGirl!!!

Things that bring us to our knees and shatter us to our core REALLY make us reanalyze who we are and what world we live in. My life has changed because of past events of last year, and I know I'm the better for the experiences.

Karma exists people. It may not come in big doses, but its definitely there.

I have a friend who has Lupus and she dedicates her life to educating terminally ill and mentally retarded children. And I DO mean dedicate... she exhausts herself and its very admirable for what she does. She is always tired and fed up with the politics but loves her children and would never give them up for anything.

Cherish what you have for you may awake one day and find it gone! Thanks for posting driftgril. I respect you and understand about the cancer. I lost my favorite uncle to a tumor in his brain. It was the worst 5 months of my life. However, I am an advocate for check ups and testing. So more power to you and I am glad you see life in a different light.
