420whp/520ft-lb Torque:) @16.3psi
I got this with my ignition breaking up so badly that the dyno shut off at 5000RPMs
The power curve was still on the rise at that point so I still have a little power left that wasn't there. The dyno operator said I had about another 10-15whp left to go!
We did three runs and all were within 5 whp and 10ft lb torque (but all broke up ignition wise)
I hit 220whp at 3000rpms and the curve is perfectly smooth at a rise until the 5000rpm cut on the dyno. The max torque was at 3800rpms and slowly dropped to 450 until about 5000rpms then slowly dropped off.
MY AFRs were areound 11.7 then dropped to 10.8 because of the ignition problem, but should be pretty consistant after I fix that.
My spec are:
1995 Supra 5 speed (w58)
DaveH t61 Kit @16.3 psi
38/40 Tial Wastegate
TT headgasket
525 Injectors
Lexus MAF
7x24x3 Front Mount Intercooler
SAFC-II
Innovate Wideband
3" Turboback exhaust
12v Fuel Mod.
RPS Max Street Clutch
I am very happy with the results, so now I just need a good spark enhancer and I'm ready to blow my tranny! :D
Anyone have any good suggestions, I was thinking either the MSD 6btm (has timing control) or the HKS DLI. Are there any other ones that people suggest?

Very nice numbers, congrats!

im wondering how you achieved those torque numbers..... arent those extremely high??... what kind of dyno was it?
very nice either way the hp numbers sound right on point
Those torque numbers are about right for a single turbo 2jz making that much hp. Keep in mind that an inline engine will have more torque than a V style engine. My buddy just dyno'd about the same hp & torque numbers on an initial street tune (93oct) on his T78 MKIV.
Good numbers! I didn't see it in your post but what octane fuel are those numbers on? What was causing your ign problems? Might want to try a more narrow gap on the plugs as sometime the factory system doesn't have the strength to jump larger plug gaps under boost.

520ft/lbs of torque to the wheels?! Are you sure that is accurate?

Yes we ran 4 pulls and all were within 20-30ftlb at different boost levels 1psi differnce. My lowest torque was 489ftlb.
The gas was Sunoco 93.
My plugs are gapped at .28 I think, I can't fully remember they might be at .32
I'm getting an HKS DLI soon so that should fix most everything spark related.
My plugs are NGK Iridiums heat range 6.
This was on a Dynojet

In the meantime narrowing the gap on your plugs could solve your ignition break up problem.

Yeah I'm going to check them this week and see what they are at. I don't want to go to much lower then .28, but if they are at .32 then i will definitely give that a try.

Right on man! Impressive numbers, Post your numbers when you get the ignition figured out.

You got any pics of the graph you could post up?

Also,
what final spark plug gap did you end up using? Nice job Matt :).

Here is the old dyno.
The dip at the beginning is due to a bad rich spot I couldn't tune out with the lexus MAF and SAFCII. And as you can see the dyno shut off before the 5250 Xover for power and torque due to the bad spark.
This was on a DynoJet at Verocious Motorsports.
Since then I have rebuilt the motor with TT pistons and TT HG to lower the compression to 8.3:1. I'm still running the same setup boost wise, but have a MapECU2 controlling everything now. I haven't redynod yet. But the car is smoother and stronger then ever. As soon as my audio knock mointor comes in (shipped from England takes 4 weeks) I'm going to tune it for max power on pump gas.
With the compression change the torque has dropped a lot but I think the HP is still hovering around 420-450 as it was before.
Final SP gap is .28 with NGK 3330 coppers. I also installed a HKS Twin power as well.

Nice, what are you tuning with currently?
Mattkiv, that is excellent news about the MAP ECU 2... are you running the supplied IAT? Did you use the auto-learn mode to establish a base map?

Yes I'm running the supplied IAT, I have it mounted in the throttle body right before the intake plenum.
I tried the auto learn mode but it didn't work too well. Either my connection was bad or I was an idiot when I tried to use it as it would only fill in about 2 dozen fields and that was it. So I used the supplied 440cc map and adjusted it from there. I started by removing the difference in % between the 525cc and 440cc injectors. This gave me a very rich but startable tune. Then about 30 runs later I have the car running pretty much perfectly up to 18psi. I have some very small fine tuning to do (a matter of a couple points AFR in the lower rpm bands, that bother me but run completely normally)

Matt, I really liked your torque curve :ylsuper: . Is this a T61 turbo you bought from DaveH and can you please give me the specs on it? I'd like to attain a similar powerband as the dyno graph :).

thats sum V8 torque right there. you would just mortify an older viper.......

2jzforlife We found out he was detonating on this dyno, hence the large torque and power value differences. Also, the motor ended up "blowing" later on down the road, so this dyno is not accurately representative of a properly tuned T61 daveH setup. However, it must have been fun as hell to drive hehe.

What is the AR on the hot side? I have a TO4S which is essentially a T61 wheel. At 16psi through an automatic I pulled 380hp and 335tq. I'm running 70 AR on both sides. I have a full Aristo swap. I've now upgraded to a BB and went with a P trim without clipped fins. The dyno below had a 10 degree clip I found out. I have yet to redyno.

I know this is years old but I was just enquiring as to the life span of yor w58? Popped many or are you just super gentle with it?
Cheers

I rebuilt the motor I had "blown" (cracked a piston ringland due to detonation.
I put in TT pistons and changed the compression to 8.5:1 on the car. I have yet to redyno it. I'm currently running 18psi on this set up and at 11.3 AFRs my 525cc injectors are at 85-90% usage. So I'm pretty close to maxed out for this turbo and injector set-up. I've been running this set-up since late 07 when I blew the motor. My current estimates (using examples of similar setups on the forums here and data from my logging). I should be running 430-485whp/410-450 tq roughly (These are only estimates based on logging data and similar cars with similar mods, not dyno numbers, please no flaming)
I'm on the same w58 that was in the car originally. I have been autoXing and road course tracking the car for 2 years now and the w58 has been holding up fine. I do have an R154 sitting in the garage for when I eventually break this tranny. I do not beat it for daily driving, and I do not drag race. But so far the w58 is working perfectly.

Thanks for the quick reply :)
Im really happy to hear your gearbox is still holding up to it, im going to use and treat my car pretty much the same as you...only used on the occasional weekend, and a few times a year ill go to the track for some legal fun.
Ill cross my fingers that my w58 rolled off the production line the same day as yours did hehe.
How old is your box by the way? how many miles on it? What clutch are you using.
Cheers :)

1995, so about 14 years old. I have Redline 75/90 in it. I have the RPS Max Street clutch, but do not get it! as it is the clutch that causes crankwalk. I'm soon switching to the R154 tranny and getting a Spec dual plate clutch. The tranny has 116,000 miles on it. 99,000 of them before I bought the car 5.5 years ago. So you can see that even though I drive daily in the summer it hasn't gone long distances a lot. I have taken 500 mile trips and the like but it is usually a short distance, autox and track car. I live 8 miles from work and do have a second car to drive as well.
