View Full Version : Wiring issues with 2JZ-GTE SC300?
I have a customer bringing his SC300 to the shop, he has an Aristo 2JZ-GTE, US Spec Auto TT Harness, and both JDM and US Spec 6Sp ECU's. He is telling me that there is wiring that needs to be done... I was not aware of any wiring that needs to be done when swapping from NA to GTE on an SC300, figured it would be the same as a Supra no?
Anyone with this type of experience feel free to chime in! Thanks
There is def wiring to be done. The 2jz-gte has a diff wiring harness than the SC300 does.... Everything will line up engine-wise but the wiring will require a little work
Its little more than getting the SC300 schematics, cutting the engine-harness plugs that plug into the chassis and changing the wires over from the new harness to the correct positions. I think you might even be able to do it without cutting if you can remove the wires from their harness clips.

1st off.. Too bad he has a USA harness, it's going to have way too many plugs or emissions crap and the mass air.
2nd, you can't use a USDM ECU on a JDM 2JZGTE unless you feel like using a mass air sensor.
3rd, yeah.. its nothing but changing over the body plug ends, and changing the wires to their correct position. Don't forget to ground the grounds. You also have to do the typical tach mod. Oh yeah, the temp gauge will work fine, make sure the grounds are grounded. Same goes for a 1JZ swap, there is no "resistor" mod, thats ghetto engineering, just ground the temp sensor. For some reason the SC has different body plug ground that ppl miss.
Oh yeah, u gotta change the typical things like the oil pan to the rear sump off the 2jzge you take out, blah blah.

You don't happen to know which plug that the ground for the temp sensor is on do you? It'd be nice to know which plug to tell people to find via schematics.
