IM SOON GOING TO BOOST MY IS300 ..
i have the XS POWER TURBO KIT custom exhaust and MAP ECU 2
and an lc1 wideband ofcurse !
for now im going to boost of the wastegate spring 7 PSI
1st QUESTION IS : Can i bost the car for now maybe 2 months or less on stock injectors stock fuel @ just 7 PSI ?
Is that safe ? ok ? not ?
2nd QUESTION IS : After i get bigger injectors fuel system and lower the compression .. how many PSI of boost more can the stock engine handle ?
what is the limit ? EXAMPLE 13 PSI .. HOW MUCH WHP WOULD I BE MAKING !
sorry for going crazzy with questions but i want to be clear on this so i wont do nothing stupid !
My main concern is can i for now 2 MONTHS boost the car with stock fuel @ 7 psi not pushing it hard ??

first off..
search GO FASTER on my.is
2nd, 7 psi is really the safe limit on a stock compression motor...anymore and you will blow it up really quickly...

From my research the OBD I GE have beefier internals then the OBDII GE, this is why your motor can handle such boost. On the other note, I take it you are on a thicker HG?

Question 1.) The only way to know for sure is a wideband, or a dyno w/ wideband.
Question 2.) The question you should be asking is how much power the engine can handle, not how much boost. The stock compression of 10.5 on these engines is pretty high for boost. A thicker HG should be installed the minute you put the engine under boost. As far as the stock internals, I would have to wait for an answer from one of the other members who are more intelligent with how the stock engine performs. The general rule of thumb is 2x's the engine's stock whp. This may or may not be the golden rule here.

I find it stange that you had such a long discussion on another thread with Leo about engine management and you still chose the wrong system! You will find that the IS is not a Supra or SC300 as far as tuning and what works best. You should have at the least gone with Emanage Ult, F10X, E6X. I don't think you understand what kind of headaches you will have dealing with a Piggyback on an IS. This is not a car for an inexperienced person to try to turbo unless you've got deep pockets or another daily driver and time to work out the kinks. Going true standalone is the easiest, cheapest (in the long run), and most reliable way to boost an IS. Sell the MAP-ECU and get one of the Haltecs.

I agree with htekwo. Everything he said is true, avoid the headaches and do it right the 1st time.
As far as your orginal q: how much psi on a stock motor. 7psi is the safe number, I would not reccomend "racing" or "beating" on the motor at 7psi, its safe to run the car, not to BOOOST the car.
Finally, do some research and find an experience tuner/mechanic that is fimiliar with TURBO IS300's...not sc300's not supra's but turbo is300's..
Im my past ive gone to countless sc300 , rx7, supra guru's who were kings of the jungle...but when it came to my turbo is300 w/ a haltech the sent me packing to another tuner.
bottom line, do research, save your $, do it right the 1st time.

x2 couldnt have said it better myself, like everyone else said read up on the is.net boards, lots of good information, the obdII 2jzge can not and will not handle alot of boost 8+psi, ive read too many horror stories about people blowing them up, snapping rods, melting pistons, etc. Build it right the first time it will save you money in the long run, 500 bucks for a part now that will save you 5000 bucks in repairs/time/labor/parts later.

Cubanstyle, It seems like you have never built a turbo car nor had one. But here are my .02 cents.
No one can really datermine whats a safe amount of psi for you to run your turbo. Alot of factors come into play. Tunning, Weather, Setup ect. One thing for sure many of us would recommend is to do it once and do it right. And most of us talk from experience, not because we want you to spend big bucks is because in the long run it will be even more money you will be ditching out.
Another thing is no one will be able to determine how much HP you will make of a dertain boost # due to the setup you have and the conditions of the motor. All i can tell you is that if you dont have the supporting fuel mods of the turbo kit. wait 2 more weeks till you get paid and do it all at once, and it will decrease the chances of you blowing your motor.
Hope this helps you decide.
