If you swap to the 2jz-gte and want to retain the 5spd w58. which flywheel would you use? the TT flywheel or the NA flywheel? i know clutch wise you would have to use the NA 5spd clutch but will the NA flywheel bolt up to the TT 2jz-gte engine.

no it will not bolt up
use na flywheel for W58 and use TT flywheel for V160. Clutch bolt patterns are different and clutch engage/release mechanism for each transmission is fundamentally different.

so just to confirm, a na flywheel with a na clutch kit will work with the 2jz-gte twin turbo motor?

JZ series is JZ series, the bolt pattern on the crankshaft is the same. Turbo or non turbo 1jz or 2jz.

W58 tranny = use W58 flywheel + clutch
R154 tranny = use R154 flywheel + clutch
V160 tranny = use V160 flywheel + clutch

*Do note that the 7M series w58 or R154 clutch (not flywheel) fits the corresponding JZ w58 or r154 transmission and flywheel.

Does this mean that when I install my R154, I can still use the flywheel that I have been using with my W58?

Thanks,

No, you'll need a new one.

couldn't he resurface it if it is above the minimum spec. thickness?

gonesingle, your wording in the bottom caption is very confusing, but I have figured it out.

R154 and V160 and W58 are completely different transmissions and will not work together. The R154 and V160 have similar clutch actuation methods and are fundamentally different (read: not a damn thing works) from the W58 or W55.

The flywheels dont interchange, the clutches do not interchange, the transmission bellhousings do not interchange. End of discussion.

ridox, No. It has nothing to do with OEM specs of any kind. The clutch systems are a push vs pull... IIRC the W58 is a push because the bearing is pressed against the clutch diaphram and it disengages itself from the clutch disc.
The R154 and V160 do not work this way. This is why the slave cylinder is required for either to be installed because they work the complete opposite. It is also why the clutch PP and disc must be disengaged from the flywheel before the transmission itself can be removed. (its why the inspection cover is there)

yea i understand what you are saying i work for a clutch company. w58 is obviously push type and the r154/v160 are pull. what I'm trying to find out is what clutch/flywheel i would need.

i assume i would need a 2jzgte flywheel to mate to the engine and a push type 2jzge clutch for the w58 question is... will that 2jzge pressure please bolt up to the 2jzgte flywheel?

Th only 2jzgte flywheel is for the v160, You will need a 2jzge flywheel.
