Alright, so after several manhours was put into it, we finally started the car an hour ago. We put 5 quarts of oil in, lowered the car, and turned the key.
Started up right on the dot, and idled perfectly. It ran smooth as can be for the first 30 seconds, then we noticed a bit of smoke (steam is a better way to describe it) slipping out through the hood. We pop the hood, and see a bit of steamy like smoke coming from the turbo/wastegate/housing area.
We then turned off the car, and immediately the smoke stopped. We turned back on the car, it ran good for a few seconds until it was warmed back up, then the smoke started again..(This isnt pouring smoke, its just about really steamly like)
The cars ran for about 1.5 minutes total, but it was dark and we decided to put it back in the garage until we can trouble shoot tomorrow.
Anyone have any ideas? I know its terribly difficult to diagnose without seeing it, but I was hoping you could just throw out some suggestions.
Keep in mind the smoke was steamy grayish, and it smelled pretty bad. This could be due to an untuned brand new turbo kit though, with straight pipes.
I also just wanted to add that I had to make my own gaskets, (liquid shit), also the turbo and components were kinda greasy from our hands and got some black oil and grease on it.. could be it..
Would you suggest I run the car for more than a minute, or not run it at all?
Also, i doubt this has ANYTHING to do with it, but my BOV line wasnt connected to anything at all.
Thanks guys.
