ok here is something really odd, this is my project is a 1979 toyota celica ra42 that i am converting to 2jz na-t in a very near future (to make it real in 3 month) for now it sports a 22r hybrid engine that is going to be nitrous fed to death, just so i can get the rust out of me racing it on the strip, well so this is going to be the set up of the 2jz na-t:
factory internals exept arp main studs, arp rod bolts and arp head studs.
factory 2jzgte head gasket
garrett gt45 t6 turbo with 1.19 A/R exhaust housing
xs turbo manifold
tial waste gate
xs 4" intercooler modified ti fit the celica
3 inch IC piping
tial blow off valve
800 to 1000 cc injectors
custom fuel rail
custom intake manifold
q-45 throtle body
microtech ltx12s stand alone ecu
msd 7al
msd 3 stage retard control
custom 4 inch down pipe and exhaust dump and thats it no muffler
i will start wit a r154 but eventually will change it to a gm trans braked trany
got a mopar 8 3/4 rear end using 4.56 gears with the stick shift and 4.11 when i change over to auto
but enogh talk here are couple of pictures of the car

i have been working on some weight reduction and just by removing the stock gas tank and spare tire well and bumpers i loose like 200lbs. also i was removing the sound dedening material just on the back seat area and trunk i save all i was taking out in a bag and after i finish i weigh the bag and for my surprise it was a stunning 48lbs. just the small amount of the back seat and trunk!

Wow man, that takes dedication! It will be nice to see the 2j in the engine bay.

01-10-2008, 06:41 PM
the swap begins
i took the 22r away and send it to a new owner (and a super bad experience with the shipping company) never going to use again RoadWay express super bad customer service and untrained empolyees and a very bad communication! ever use' em again! thanks God everything is solved and my customer is happy.
Now back to my celica,
got the oil pan of the 2jzgte in the engine bay so you guys can see how much room i got in this chassis! it is sweet! i will take the engine as back as i can without cutting the fire wall i may need to modified the trany tunnel but nothing serious!
got to take the a/c + heating unit away (no need for that anymore) as well as the brake booster to start the swap this weekend! here some pictures of how it looks right now!

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c390/CANDUNGO1515/celica007.jpg
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c390/CANDUNGO1515/celica008.jpg
and you guys wont going to belive it but it went so clean inside the bay that i was like... something is going to happen!!!! 8)
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c390/CANDUNGO1515/celica009.jpg

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c390/CANDUNGO1515/celica011.jpg
and to surprise me more look the trany shifter position, now i really start to worry and i was really like,,, damn something is really to be real f..ked up later i know
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c390/CANDUNGO1515/celica012.jpg
then i realize today is my f..king day cuz it was almost unbelivable when i went down underneath the car and the transmission x-member and mount just bolt together and the driveshaft went in like it was made for it! CAN YOU BELIVE THAT
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c390/CANDUNGO1515/celica013.jpg

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c390/CANDUNGO1515/celica015.jpg
now is a really small interference with the turbo and hood, but nothing serious cuz i was going to cut most of the reinforcement out so no problem at all!
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c390/CANDUNGO1515/celica016.jpg
and here is were i got to do my magic, i got to cut the factory x-member brackets to weld new ones nothing serious it is going to be super easy thats on the next update.
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c390/CANDUNGO1515/celica018.jpg
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c390/CANDUNGO1515/celica019.jpg
look the front of the engine oil pan line in comparassion with the front radiator suport almost scuared ahhh?
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c390/CANDUNGO1515/celica020-1.jpg
i lower the car to the floor and the ride height is almost the same as if the 22r engine still there.

Hey, on the back of your motor where the EGR cooler is; what IS that? I'm having leaky EGR problems after removal due to crappy flanges that i made out of sheet metal. I can't get back there now, but was curious how you blocked it?

the hole that goes to the intake i leave it open cuz i am using a custom intake manifold and no egr, then the hole to the exaust port i tap it and plug it with a npt allen SS plug.

it is going prety good mark just passing tru some hard times with the oldesr of my girls she in college and want to be independent and her mother is about to die hahahahaha, but besides that, trying to work as much as i can on my car wile working also on customer cars, all is been good for the bussines but slow for the progress on my car i already miss the pinks all out event in atlanta and is not looking good for the pan american races at englishtown NJ this summer, parts has been flowing in like the forged pistons and the set of 272 cams from crower with springs and titanium retainers, moser axles have been ordered as well as a set of 4.10 rear end gears,
so thats the story of this past couple of weeks and still kicking hahahahaha! as soon as i get the axles i will install the coilover setup cut the factory panhard bar bracket and instal the new panhard bar in its new location! then more pictures my friend!

nice.... what's the deal with the spacers?
hey:biggrin:
hahahaaa those are to compensate for the wheel thickness, the studs are 5/8 and drag wheels need those big studs, they will last longer than the weak 12mm also you will use just one set of them the thin ones for the weld wheels and the thick ones for the billet specialties i got!

As you can see i holesaw the rear frame rail and inserted the tube in it to weld it this give enough strenght to the rear suspension and alowed me to atach the roll cage tubes that goes to the back to it to strenghtened the whole chassis as one pice with the roll cage.

It is hard to say cuz this should be up and running like 4 month ago but economy, customer responsability, bills, and unsuspected personal isues have me way in a delay i havnt expected so i hope by next season have it up and dyno tested it should be mid season i can go out and do some shake down test to set up the boost controller and rear suspension i am going out with just boost no juice and R-154 modified trany with slipper clutch stay tuned for a update on that  !

here is the trany i am going to use.
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c390/CANDUNGO1515/celica153.jpg
I am hoping this clutch setup will hold the disc is a special sintered iron unit sliper disc and the preassure plate is a clutch master unit with a lot of preassure i will install it straight up first and if it sticks too much i will shim the preassure plate to achive the amount of slipery i need to get the job done the good thing about this is i dont have to take the trany off to shim it :D
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c390/CANDUNGO1515/celica154.jpg
the parts i ordered from Marlin Crawler to internally bulletproofing my R154 trany these parts are custom made by Marlin Crawler to beef up the 'R' Series Tranys take a look!
this is the bearing retainer the factory one is made out of aluminum and flex on high HP levels making a gap betwine the bearing and the thrust washer making the trust washer fail and brake missaligning the gears creating failure in the trany! this one is made out of Tool Steel with grade 8 bolts :D
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c390/CANDUNGO1515/bearingretainer.jpg
And this is the trust washer that is made out of cast iron from factory very weak this one is made out of Chorme Moly and is billet from a solid pice!
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c390/CANDUNGO1515/bearinretainerthrustwasher.jpg
With these parts the R154 becomes Virtually BULLET PROOF! I HOPE
