So, i'm planning on going NA-T in my 92 SC300 and I have a problem. My setup will easily be able to crank out over 320rwhp except I have an auto tranny. I really can't afford to fry my tranny and it seems that any sort of tranny alternative is like a grand plus...AT LEAST.
So, outside of tranny coolers with fans, is there really anything I can do or am i just kinda screwed?

Yeah, buying a different or built transmissions the best way to go.

i ran on the stock tranny making over that for a little while just get some good trans fluid and a good ass cooler and for the love of god keep it out of 2nd gear when u get on it. when i got on it in 2nd it would bounce off the rev limiter and take a little while to shift so just take it easy on her in 2nd and i think you will be ok for awhile

How do you get it to shift faster, its so annoying that the shifting delays that split second.

How do you get it to shift faster, its so annoying that the shifting delays that split second. The PWR button seems to increase the line pressure, resulting in a faster downshift. Or maybe my car is on crack....... :riaa:

I know that a built tranny is 2grand I think.I've seen them for $100, but I'm sure you could find one around the $200 range. People who bolt there 5-spd up to there 1JZ are usually unloading them pretty cheap. Boost Logic's tranny is $1800+core. It would be fine without the torque converter if you are using a smaller turbo..... the stall speed is decent on it, but if you are using a 61+ I'd say a converter is needed.

So, lets say i have a soarer tranny ECU and a soarer tranny with my 2jz.
The soarer has a higher redline right? SO the soarer tranny ecu makes the car shift at higher points....BUT the 2jz redlines lower than the 1jz on stock main ECU.
Does this mean i'll just bounce off the rev limiter and wont shift?

You can also look into a valvebody upgrade, that's almost a nessecity @ 300+rwhp. Shifts will be alot tighter. I know the IS stock trasmission also needs replacment of the 3rd gear sprang after around 450+rwhp. I'm not sure about the SC trans though.

To make the tranny shift faster you have to increase the spring tension on the shift actuators. Most people do this by shimming them.
