I keep reading mixed reviews about it. Does it or does it not work well with karman vortex cars? I contacted mapecu directly and they say that it does work well.

KV is a difficult proposition, not for the hardware but for the installer. It uses a frequency type output. Because of this it is not easily measured. You need to understand the output of the meter in HZ and be able to tune to that. It's a little more complex than the newer (obd2) 0-5v type meters.

It's designed to work with either, but the ultimately the installer is the one who makes it work by setting it up properly.

Map-ecu 1 work okay with karmen vortex 2jz-ge na-t cars up to about 440cc injector size. Once, you use a larger injector size than that, it's gets more and more difficult to have decent driveability because you have a very limited numerical range of values within each tuning cell. I had 550cc injectors with map-ecu 1 and it never ran properly and I tried everything...this is just my $0.02.

Hummm... Can anyone else comfirm this?

I tend to agree with Dejacky, though I have had good luck with it, tuning a KV car is difficult, the logic with the frequency type meters is not as easy to understand as a 0-5v meter. It's also difficult to troubleshoot without a scope and some decent electronics knowledge.

I'm pretty much in agreement here.

I deluded myself for a long time about the Map-Ecu, thinking it was just my tune and given enough time I would fix it. I've been running the Map-Ecu for about 1.5 years now and have come to the conclusion that it is just not a good match for our KV based systems.

WOT tuning (>3500 rpm) has never been a problem and stays very consistent for me. However its like everyone else says, it has some pretty big issues for daily driving. Just around town I've seen lower average rpm A:F's swing in excess of +-1.5 for NO apparent reason. Yes you can learn to drive around them as I have, but you shouldn't have to. I no longer recommend this setup to anyone with a KV based car. I actually have my sights set on the mega squirt now...

Would you guys recomend then (besides AEM, this is something i wont be doing till the end of this year) that i can use to get rid of my maf, and help with my stall problem (stalls even without a bov).

to get rid of the maf there are few choices: emanage ultimate, mapecu 1 or 2 and AEM FI/C (only for OBD2 0-5v maf cars).

OH and of course, MEGASQUIRT.... (please do this one, please.... I want to see this implemented, it's cheap)

Dont you have to build a MEGASQUIRT? Im not familiar with it. Do they sell already assembled kits?

you can buy them prebuilt (check ebay)

So for example.. This one would work fine on my car?....

Check the megasquirt website, they have a list of good vendors at the top of the main page. They've had reports of people getting scammed on ebay.

mainly you will need time and lots of connector pins or solder/shrinkwrap. If you are keeping the distributor (and why not?) you should not need much more. I have not tried it myself so take this a 'uninformed' advice

The 2jz distributor puts out the same signal the 7M CPS does and its been decoded to work with both the MS1 and MS2 but both require the -Extra code (MSnS-Extra or MS2-Extra). http://www.msextra.com I think is the website.

Two signals are coming from the distributor so a second VR circuit has to be built on the MS unit.
http://www.msextra.com/ms2extra/MS2-Extra_Nippon.htm

Its very indepth and requires soldering skills.

Karman Vortex is the kind of MAF that the OBD1 cars have.
