What is right place for IAT sensor (it connected to stock ECU)?
1. Intake manifold (most heat)
2. Air filter (middle heat)
3. Intercooler output (most cold)

In MAP-ECU Manual it wrote that i must place it after air filter for NA engine and place it on IM for turbo engine. But i have NA-T engine with NA ECU!

I set IAT to IM and tried use toyota scaner for air temp and see it about 60'C!!!
Is this OK?

depends on a few factors, like what fmic you are using, with or without meth injection, air temp outside, how warm your engine is at the time you took your reading. if you have a cold engine and it is chilly outside it will show colder than if you had a warm engine and it was 80 degrees outside. for the na-t put it in the IM pipe before you TB and it should be fine. all the IAT sensor is looking for is the temp of the air going into the engine not at the turbo compressor side so the ecu can compinsate for the fuel.

I had warm engine in idle mode, 93 octane, IAT read 60'C (140'F), outside air temp 10'C (50'F), IAT was installed on IM after TB.
One toyota guru said that this is like in SAHARA for my stock ECU
and ecu can wrong to work. Is'nt it?

If you are turbocharged, place it before the TB. Also, do not place it directly over or nearby the exhaust manifold; it will also give faulty readings. Ideal place seems to be in the intercooler piping after the TB near the air filter.

I've attached a picture, credit goes to velalla for the original pic, I just doctored it up in photoshop.

Thank you, Bean!

There are different opinons, but for sure.....do not put the IAT sensor behind the TB. BAD spot. Put it right on the piping behind the filter. You want intake air temp, not manifold temp. While MT is not a real number, there is definintely a difference especially when the motor is run hard, then idled - the whole mass gets hotter. Better to get IAT close to the filter.

Also where you put it sort of depends on if your ECU is a stock NA or stock TT ecu, they of course have different maps, etc.

Humm didnt think about that... Time to move my temp sensor, i put it right by the turbo....

i have mine right before the throttle body and my car runs perfect

My car also runs fine right by the throttle body and turbo.... But i see what you guys are saying.

when using methanol injection,
should the IAT go before the meth injector, or after?
I remember reading IAT before the injector, but wanna get a 2nd opinion

before so it doesnt get a false reading

I don't know how much luck you guys have had with the AIT compensation but I am running the ECU 2 and I have never like using it, it always throws things way out of whack.

What happens if I dont connect the AIT? NA-T motor USDM ecu?

I dont have mine connected. THe car was running and driving fine without it so i never installed it. Would i see any benefits if i were to install it?
