Hey everyone. I was coming home from a friends house at around 10:00 P.M. yesterday. I was cruising at around 60-65mph down the road, and as I glanced down at the gauge cluster, I noticed the oil idiot light was on. Within 2 seconds of me having looked at it, the light turned off. I continued to drive, and there were no noticable changes in the way the car drove or how it performed. Have any of you ever experienced this before? I'm hoping it's just a faulty sensor, as I REALLY don't want to have to get into a replacement oil pump. What do you guys think?

are you talking about the low oil light or the oil pressure light?

It was the low oil light. The first thing I did was check the oil level, and the car is good for oil right now. Do you think it's a clogged return line or something of the sort?

I didn't think it was anything serious. Thank god it won't limit my NA-T chances. ;)

Check your oil pressure before you go na-t. The last thing you want is low oil pressure ruining your nice new parts.

That's a good point, I'll have to remember to do that.

The oil level light has nothing to do with oil pressure, it's a float switch and if the level is low it closes the switch. Sometimes the float breaks and then it does this. If you check the level and it's OK, no worries. Oil pressure light is another deal altogether.

Fair call :) I forget that the Supra has two lights. My other car only has one (pressure) and by the time that comes on theres something seriously wrong! In general I'm pretty cautious if any of the warning lights come on and it's a good habit to fix these things as soon as possible.

Mark, I've got good news. Dad finally came through, and after the Supra is back from paint, I'll be ordering a kit. :)

try adding another can of oil regardless. I've seen the low oil light intermittently come on (briefly) on newly na-t'd cars that were using same amount of oil as stock 2jz-ge. Oil is now running through an extra line and/or filter if you use a filter inline with the oil feed line, so the fluid has slightly more volume to fill up. If adding a little oil doesn't remedy the light issue, then it's something else.
