After all my research I still ran into fitment issues :(. Anyway here's my setup:

Trans: Chaser R154 w/1jz bellhousing
Motor: 94 USDM TT (BPU ++)
Mounts/Brackets: 93-96 TT
Chassis: 92 SC300 5MT

Trans was bolted to motor and dropped in but the shifter sits too far back from the shifter hole. It's about 2 inches behind the hole. I found this odd considering it was all supposed to line up perfectly. It looks as though a Supra R154 would fit perfect lol. I looked at my other boys setup and he's running a gte with sc300 motor mounts and brackets and his motor actually sat about 2" further out than mine. So I could only assume that the motor mounts and engine brackets were the issue. I know Blair is using 97/98 Supra Motor Mounts/Engine brackets and his trans (Soarer R154) bolted up with no issues. So based on that here are my options.

Option 1: Pull motor and mount sc300 mounts/brackets.(Motor 2" forward)
Option 2: Pull motor and mount 97/98 Supra mounts/brackets.(Motor ?? forward)
Option 3: Modify shifter hole to accommodate shifter. (Cheapest)

I will probably go with option 3 considering I would have to buy new supra or sc300 mounts and bracket for the first two options.

I'm also double checking the front half 7mgte drive shaft, a test fit showed fitment with no issues even with the shifter being 2" behind the hole. I will have to double check on that though.

I will keep everyone posted on my progress. Also any input from the experts will be helpful. :D

there are a few different shifters with different angles bent in. try that. i have to cut mine up alot going from auto to w58 to soarer r154 and back to auto.

Sorry to postwhore but can someone confirm that the r154 box from a JZX90/JZX100 chaser is a direct swap for the MKIV W58?

As we all know Soarer r154s are scarce, and I have found a Chaser box up for grabs.

cant really make it out. is the shifter right under the panel brace for the ashtray. is this the r154 with the tripod shifter or the regular one like a W58? mine was a wierd install going from the W58 to the tripod R154. i had to cut mor out and the shifter handle was about an inch more forward than the W58 was and had alot more curve to it.

I havent seen one pushed too far back...Its usually too far forward. interesting.

Well the 7M front half shaft bolted right up with no issues I think since this is a chaser trans the shifter actually sits a little bit further back than the soarer. The shop modified the shifter hole and everything supposed to be back together this weekend or early next week. I'll post pics once it all gets back together.

Since the shifter assembly will sit further back, how will you overcome the shifter not sitting in the center console? Even with the shifter sitting in the position I usually see it (further forward), 2nd, 4th, 6th and reverse slightly touch the back of the shifter panel.

Well it turns out everything fit up well when the interior was put back together. I was worried that the shifter itself would come in contact with back console but it clears just fine(Click on pic below for enlarged pic)

So overall the shifter hole had to be extended about 2". Everything else was fine. I still find this whole thing very odd but hey it all bolted up. :D
