If you added a GTE head gasket to a GE for a NA-T conversion. at what power level roughly are you risking the reliability of the bottom end? (assuming you have adequate fuel)

the bottom ends are the same. Same crank, bearings, rods, etc. The only difference in the BLOCK and rotating assy is the oil squirters (not there on the GE) and the pistons. The pistons on the NA are just as strong (they are forged, like the TT) but have a smaller dish for higher compression.

Do remember that using a GTE headgasket, you won't be at the GTE-level of compression ratio...
GTE = 8.5:1
GE stock = 10:1
GE w/ GTE gasket = ~9.1:1
GE w/ 2mm gasket = ~8.7:1
GE w/ 2.5mm = ~8.5:1

I think Dave is using a stock 100k+ mile block....

I bought the engine for $200, it was suppose to have like 80 or 90k miles on it.

:D Best $200 I've spent.

that is pre vvti ge and 01 and prior GE blocks.

so are GTE pistons forged or hypereutic? (Casting) casted?
and the rods on 02 GE motors are thinner and weaker, pistons definitely not the same and the rings are alot thinner.

so the IS300 2jzge is a weak motor then?

affirmative...unfortunately

Actually the pistons are NOT forged - they are pressure cast in both the GTE and the GE. They still hold the power though.

Dude, seriously. Do you read the 2JZ bible every night before you go to bed?
THanks for all the help and info
