I should be a great alternative to Megasquirt. They go for less than $400 and seem simple to install.

Sure if you want to get right down to the nuts and bolts of it ;). Not only does the Megasquirt have far more options through their ECU's, (i.e. stepper IAC, batch vs. bank vs. sequential for injectors, injector pulse width, duty cycle, etc.) but they have been around for awhile and are a tried and true system that people are using for just about anything you can think of. Granted not all of those options are relevant to your particular setup, but it does give you an idea at the thoroughness of the unit. What kind of processors and operating systems do these have? Are they constantly upgrading and improving there ECUs on a hardrive level as well as options for an even better tune and parameters to monitor? Well Megasquirt is, catch is you have to know the ins and outs of a system, basically making your own harness, calibrating the sensors, knowing what square waves are and their relevance, know whether it needs to be batch fire or sequential, blah blah. Let's just say, imho, there's no contest here between these two if you are really wanting to tune a system to it's fullest potential and not pay thousands for a system that is specifically designed for that motor.
