Ok, i'm trying to decide how to run my engine now. Initially, i was decided on the Aem FIC 6 or 8, but ifound a good deal on Aem EMS. My question is: Is it really needed for my HP goals, <6-700 hp? Is the EMS that advantageous over the fic for such a HP level? I really to decide quickly on which direction to take. Btw, i will run GT35R, 1.87 mm HG, eventually 680cc siemens, and i have a VVT-i which will have a TT bottom soon....thnx in advance.

The EMS is superior in terms of its abilities to control everything. But you need to know how to tune it or find someone who can. Then you need to have the money to buy it, pay for sensors, install it (or you could do that yourself) and pay someone to tune it for you.
These were my biggest cons when looking at the EMS.

How is it working out for you?

i used to run a map ecu on my setup before i saw the light and went aem
as far as i am concerned , hp has little to do witht he equation.. you are going from na to forced induction , na ecu knows nothing about positive pressure (boost) so timing is not right to run safely and this safety req becomes more critical as hp/boost rises
driveability is second to none with standalone , i hated the constantly changing tune with piggyback i am just under 500rwhp and my car runs/drives better then stock period

i'm in the process of hooking up my turbo setup as we speak. I did get the AEM EMS. it's been hooked up since i started the thread, except for ignition and injectors since the car is my daily driver
