View Full Version : I am convinced with Iridiums, after going through 3 sets of copper 6097s in 2 months

Replaced NGK 6097 (bkr7e) with a set of used/cleaned Iridiums spark plugs today, night and day difference in smoothness on my Supra it is not even funny.
Originally I was sticking to 6097s as it is dirt cheap and many people swear by them, but after going through 3 sets in less than 3 months, I am no longer a believer. At least not on a Supra equipped with MAF or AFM.

Thats great to hear man. Im plannign to use 6097 but alot of people are saying that the iridiums will make up for the difference in price because they last 4 times longer or something.
Maybe I'll convert once I fry my 6067's heh

coppers aren't suppose to last long. I changed mine out with the oil change in the 300zxTT every 3000 miles.
Also, I'm no rocket scientist but i have heard with copper plugs when you detonate, your more likely to just break off the electro instead of something in the bottom end. Maybe its hearsay, who knows.

did you guys regap them to anything or leave them at the gap they came with?
I went through iridiums too quick back when I was NA/Nitrous, I havent tried them out since though... they didn't last long at all actually.... I used the standard NGK's which lasted me my initial tuning when I first went NA-T... and 6 months of running pig rich on NA-T daily driven...lol

Which exact Iridiums are you guys running? I just did a set of 3033 today in my car for kicks and left the gap @ the 32 they come in. My car runs much smoother until I try to turn the boost above 10lbs, then it just blows the spark out. It does run much much better down low and off boost though.

Fuck cheap plugs. They are cheap for a reason. All those guys that stick up for copper plugs, screw you.
