View Full Version : What kinda resistors to use on AEM FIC

So, I know the FIC needs some resistors on certain wires because it doesn't run properly right away.

This is for a '98 GS300 that has a UEGO Wideband hooked up also. The manual says the resistors are for the O2 sensors, but from what I've looked at, most people say its for the heater circuits. Any idea what ohm and wattage to use for that?

Are there any other places to place resistors? Are they necessary on the cam +/-?

You can pick them up from radioshack. They need to be atleast 25 watt and the ohms can be found in Elitistk's thread about the FIC in this section. The heater circuit is in the o2 sensor. The exhaust gases cannot keep the sensor hot enough for it to operate properly so there is a heater circuit to keep it warm enough. Hope that helps. ElitistK (who I think has since sold his GS) wrote a thread about his set-up and his experiences. I would search for this.

Let us know if you have more questions.

On both white wires on the o2 sensor? Since black is ground and blue is signal.

Hmm... this I do not know.

I still don't know what you are referring to. You would never mess with the output of a sensor. The only time I could think of using a resistor would be if I had removed the O2 sensor and wanted to put some load in the heater circuit so that the check engine light doesn't come on. If you are still using your O2 sensors intact then it should be fine.
There are wiring diagrams for the FIC on their own forums, I suggest you get those and just follow that to the letter.

the theory behind eliminating the heater circuit CEL code is to use a resistor big enough to soak up the power coming from the ECU to power the o2 sensors. Although I never got it to work personally, lambchop on my.is got it to work. might wanna shoot him a PM. I think the ECU is looking for a fluctuating resistance read instead of a static one and that is what lambchop exactly built for his setup.

if you're talking about o2 skew on the FIC, just follow the recommended resistor stated on the manual. works for our setup.

there's visual inspection in CA so i just gave up on eliminating CEL.
