I have a stock IS 300 looking at turboing it between 300-350bhp.

Looking at myis.net it would appear that with that power the internals will be fine, am I right, wanna get it right first time.

I was only gonna uprate the HG and Bolts and put some ARP conrod bolts on, would this suffice? or do people suggest anything else, can the GTE piston and conrods be used?

thanks

hey mate dont touch the conrods at all. for that power you just need the headgasket. you can even go for new oem bolts but arp may be cheaper so just price them up.

Hey,

Thanks for the reply,

That sounds all good then and cheaper :)

I mentioned the rods/pistons or uprating the conrod bolts, cos my mechanic mentioned the possibility of detonation? I'm not so technical minded so not too sure bout that, but I'm guessin from the above that the rods and pistons are fine with that sort of power.

detonation will destroy your motor even if you have new pistons/rods etc. you really want to avoid that from happening at all time. have a bit of a read up on how to prevent detonation and you will see the common things that we can do. of course the basic one is to lower the static compression ratio (with the headgasket), control temperatures (intercooling and also water temp) and to use a high octane fuel.
if youre only aiming for 350 then you will be fine as long as you dont use shitty sainsburys regular unleaded fuel ;)

Ha, know what you means bout the petrol  I usually go for Shell V-Power anyhow! How you know about Sainsburys all the way down there or you have them too?

With the detonation think he said the ARP bolts would hold it together so be a bit of a saftey thing, but sounds like i'd be in the deep end anyhow if it happened huh.

Cheers for your help I'll look into the prevention tips.

Lol I'm from Newcastle upon Tyne.. I moved to Australia cuz I got sick of the cold weather. Thanks to the 40degree heat in summer here the chicks walk around half naked and its totally worth travelling 10,000km just for that :D

EDIT : A quick google found this page which might explain a bit about detonation for you. Not all the points will be relevant but its always good to learn as much as possible. http://www.misterfixit.com/deton.htm

LOL, I don't blame you mate, I always thought about going to NZ, but Perth has become even more inviting

Thanks for the link it's def good to have all the info :)

you can make 320whp on stock injectors, head gasket and all internals. That's 8.5 PSI on the T61 and you will have no issues on 93+ octane.

Tranny can stay pretty much stock (auto) though a line pressure increase will increase the life expectancy of your clutch pack.

What about the 5 speed? how much power does it hold? i just bought the XS kit fro my IS and wanna stay around 350hp as well.
